Speeding ticket 30 mph over speed limit?

My hubby was pulled over for driving 30 mph over the speed limit...court date is in 3 weeks, we live in TX...what should he do or CAN he do/say to keep this off his record and to lower the fees if possible?? He knows he is guilty and feels terrible regrets this...Thanks for your advice.

  1. He *may* be able to get traffic school, which would keep it off his record. However, in some states it's not an option for high speed violations. I'm not familiar with Texas law.
  2. I know a beautiful girl who had both her legs amputated because somebody else was speeding. No alcohol involved, no grandstanding... just speeding. She wasn't the one speeding; she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. What can the speeder do to help her grow her legs back so she can be a cheerleader again? Tell your husband to grow a pair, pay the fine and find his brake pedal.
  3. I hire my lawyer every time I get a traffic citation, no matter how big or little it may be.
  4. Nothing. He will be lucky if he doesn't get jail time.
  5. He needs a lawyer because this IS NOT A MOVING VIOLATION this is a CRIMINAL MISDEMEANOR . if this is his first offense or has been a long time since his previous one the lawyer may be able to get the prosecutor to deal down to 24 mph over which is the highest moving violation . If the prosecutor won't deal there may be jail time , there will be a serious fine and possibly a suspension or revocation of his license .
  6. As a Texas driver, he is not eligible for Defensive Driving. He just needs to request a deferred from the court, if possible.
  7. Your best bet is to contact the courts and ask them these questions. They are the ones who will process your ticket and will know all the laws and regulation. You should also ask the courts if you are allowed to take a driving school class. This will prevent your insurance from going up and points from being placed on your license. Just make sure you get the courts permission before doing so. If you don’t the courts will reject your driving school certificate. Good luck!
  8. Better get a lawyer,
