- congrats and God bless
- Walking may help-but of course, make sure someone is with her,
- Unless the doctor has advised you not to sex is the way to get things rolling.
- My mum took some laxatives with me. It worked.
- Go to your local health food store and purchase raspberry leaf tea (not raspberry tea, just the leaf tea). Have her drink a few cups and this will normally produce labor within 24 hours. To soften the cervix and speed up labor, purchase Evening Primrose Oil. This can be inserted vaginally and will soften the cervix to allow for it to dilate easier. These methods were performed by my daughter and they worked well. EDIT: Yes, sex could speed things up as well. However, I caution the use of laxatives as they can potentially harm your baby. Good luck to you both and many years of happiness to you!
- Herbal tea and spicy food...taking a walk also helps
- DO NOT try any home remedies to induce labor without explicit permission from the ob doctor. Many are unsafe to say the least. If she wants to "speed things along" try being patient and not stressing out about getting it over with. Walk with her, give her massages to help her relax, warm showers....just let nature take its course! If her doctor feels there's any reason to "speed things along" he/she will let you know. Until then both of you relax and enjoy your time alone together (assuming it's your first child).
- A lot of walking followed by sex with orgasm followed by hot and spicy food followed by more walking.
- Walking, and sex are really the only 2 that come to mind, I can think of some other ones, but I believe that they are old wives tales! Good Luck!
- First of congrats to her!! It's my due date tomorrow!! I was having a lot of contractions a week and a half ago... and although it didn't bring on labour, I went for a really long walk then had a hot bath and shortly after, I lost my mucus plug. I think it was the walking and bath that got things moving a bit! I suggest going shopping or walking somewhere to actually "do" something, as that way it's less boring and you feel as though you're doing something useful! I hate just walking! Also, try Clarysage essential oil, a couple of drops in a bath or mixed with baby lotion and massaged onto her lower back. If she's already having some contractions, Clarysage can help speed thing sup! Good luck to her!!
- Don't do anything that involves laxatives or castor oil. Who wants to deal with diarrhea and bowel spasms when your are in labour? Labour pains are bad enough and I never want to squirt my doctor or anyone else with diarrhea when I am giving birth!! My sister made me drink castor oil when pregnant with my first...I had diarrhea and vomiting for days...and it didn't do anything apart from that. Apparently it is supposed to work by making your bowel spasm...and boy does it spasm!...which is supposed to stimulate your uterus into contracting. I firmly believe that the only time it seems castor oil 'works' is if you are about to go into labour anyway. Then it is all a big coincidence! When I finally had my son naturally 8 days later....he had pooed inside me and the doctors said that the castor oil had put him into distress and that is why he had done this. Apparently it can make them very ill if they swallow their poo so I was very lucky he hadn't! Walking and raspberry leaf tea help a bit. But if she is already beginning to contract, then nothing can speed it up really....just let nature take it's course. I have had 3 babies and they come when THEY are ready...not according to any schedule I may have for them. No matter what...there are only a few days to go before she meets her baby. Best of luck to your friend.
- Take a long walk!!
- Hi, walking is just a waste of energy any gyno will tell you. Good for the circulation but not to induce labor. Honestly the baby will only come when it is ready. From personal experience, having sex is the best way. However, tell her to prepare for some serious contractions. When you have sex - its the semen that actually causes the contractions. About 6 hours or so after sex, she should began feeling very uncomfortable. Please note: might NOT induce the labor. It did for me 3 days after sex but the 2 days before was pain I had never experienced. So, do it a couple times and besure to ejaculate inside, wait 6 hours and go again. Atleast this way, its all natural unlike wild ideas of drinking castrol oil, herbal teas, and other ideas that could harm the baby. Plus on the bright side, might be the last time for a while that you have sex. Suppose to wait 6 weeks after the baby and then usually your just too tired so its another 6 weeks. LOL - just kidding - sort of...he he he However you decide ... good luck!
