Please help I recieved a noise violation in Sea Isle City and I need legal advice.?

occured in Sea Isle City, NJ I was asleep in a friend of a friend's home which was cited for a noise violation. Apparently they live in a "noise free zone". At our initial court date, three of the eleven of us pleaded guilty and recieved a $400 fine and 20 hours community service. I cannot afford that, nor can I travel to where I recieved the violation for the community service. I feel as though the noise is the tenants responsibility and I was silently asleep. The officer said he heard two things: the music and a man telling a story (a tenant). The second court date is coming up, do I have a defense? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have court tomorrow, I am a poor teacher, I can't afford this!!!

  1. that’s like going to jail for not havening a green lawn, gees’! after all is done, don’t go back to that community., but, I would assume the noise is the owner of the properties fault.
  2. If you can prove through calling the tenet up to the stand as a witness that it was HIS apartment, then you do have a legal defense. However, you need to speak with the judge about a fine reduction. Consult your attorney and tell him everything if you havent already. Make sure you mention to whomever will listen that you were not at fault for the noise violation, but the person responsible for the room and stereo is. They cannot sentence you to something that you have not done. If you lose anyway, make damn sure you apply for an appeal to a higher court until you win or run out of time or money for your attorney. Sometimes ya gotta bite the bullet.
