1. Dear God, this is the longest question I've ever seen on here. But seriously--from what I understand about your culture, his family is probably pressuring him not to seek a love marriage, but arrange it for him--plus the situation where the one murdered his wife didn't help either. Give him some time and space and see what happens. If he really does love you (and its not just lust), then he'll come back and it will be as before.
2. I agree give it more time. True love will stand the test of time and nothing can stand in its way. Don't give up but don't push him away by endless calls, etc. I have always heard if you love something set it free if it comes back it is your to keep if it doesn't it wasn't truly yours to begin with.
